OK - So maybe it's the pregnancy, but I am sure that I have reached a new level of organization! I've always been pretty good about putting stuff where it goes, but I came accross this article on the Real Simple Magazine webpage and had to share. To me - it just may be brilliance! The idea of organizing my grocery shopping sounds awesome - it may take some time - but I'm going to give it a try this weekend! Hopefully this will prevent me from doing laps around the store wondering where the paper towels are!
Organize Your Grocery Shopping Trips:
Rather than randomly plucking items from shelves (and forgetting the things you really need in the process), make yourself an all-inclusive shopping list, grouped by the aisles of your grocery store. Creating the list should take just one trip to the market (and no more than 45 minutes). Better still, stored on your computer and posted on the refrigerator each week, it will be the last one you'll ever have to make.
Shopping-List Setup:
1. Before you go to the supermarket, jot down your grocery list. Add to it all the items you stock your shelves with that you don't need to buy this time.
2. Take the list to the store. As you shop, write down the aisle number next to each item on the list.
3. When you get home, type up the list according to the aisle numbers. Print out several copies. 4. Stick a copy of the list on your refrigerator.
Shopping-List Upkeep: (Kate's note: This part seems a bit excessive)
1. Superglue mini magnets (available at stationery stores) to a pen and a small stapler and keep both on the refrigerator next to your list. (If magnets don't adhere to your refrigerator, tack the list — and a pen and a stapler, tied with string — to a bulletin board.)
2. When you run out of an item, use the pen to check it off.
3. Staple any coupons to the list so you don't forget to use them, and write a C next to the items for double insurance.
Use this printable sample as a guide to creating your own all-inclusive shopping list and save time shopping:

You are too funny! Will you really do this?! Rick and I were actually talking last night about grocery shopping and how I should look into shopping online. That way all I have to do is go pick it up and not lug the baby out for hours on end to the grocery store.
I agree grocery stores are like corn field mazes...let me know how it works! Right now, I'm laughing my tail off!!! You're just too cute Kate!
impressive. love the blog!
Hey Kate...I found your blog through my friend the Taylors. We're all here in Waco...and actually I'm Charlie's Adm. Asst. (EJ) He's excited he's going to be a grandad in October. That's a great month...our son was born on Oct. 6 of last year...so when you are having your baby girl--we'll be celebrating Walker's 1st birthday. Just wanted to say hello and congratulations--I'm sure we'll meet one day. We also live the next street over from Charlie and Jan. :) You might see us walking--we are out with the baby jogger all of the time. I'm also best friends with Katie Butts. I believe Ryan and Reagan do a lot of stuff together. Take care! ejw
If you want to find us we are linked on Jennifer's blog (Williams)
Now Jen - that is even better - but I'm feeling my controlling ways may make that a bit more difficult for me. What if I change my mind? What if I don't think that produce looks just right? HMMMM - let me know how it goes!
